Women’s Golf: 15/3/23 & Menzies Bowl 16/3/23
Wednesday: A small field of players participated in the Par Event last Wednesday, with many players preferring to play their golf in Thursday's Bowl.
It was lovely to Welcome Jenni Bauerle back to Wednesday golf and also lovely to see she hasn't lost her touch. Jenni finished one up to take the win from Janice Johnstone who finished square.
Thursday - Menzies Bowl Day - Sponsor: Boomerang Travel & Healthy Tummies:
56 years ago, Doreen and Neil Menzies who were keen golfers in the early days at Valley View, donated our perpetual trophy for our Menzies Bowl teams event. Over the years since, the Bowl has been won by golfers from as far away as Kilmore in the South and the big Murray River Clubs to our North.
This year however, The Bowl was claimed by a Valley View team comprised of two seasoned golfers and two of our newest players. Jan McHale and Marie Watt were joined by Vonnie Morris and Wendy Cox to accumulate 102 points with their best three scores, to claim the Bowl by one point. There were smiles all round, but perhaps the biggest smile was that of Wendy Cox, who was playing in her first event with players from others clubs. Her father Cam White who volunteered at Valley View for many years would have been very proud.

In the individual events, A Grade was won by Bev McIntosh from Numurkah with 35 points, B Grade by Club Captain, Helen Armstrong with 37 points and C Grade by Veronica Irving from Cobram/ Barooga, who also won the Veterans award, with 39 points.
Nearest the pins were won by, Norma Pollock from Shepparton in A Grade, Karen Taylor from Rochester in B Grade and Wendy Cox in C Grade.
For many years our Menzies Bowl has been sponsored by Debbie Kitt from Boomerang Travel and Healthy Tummies and all at Valley View are grateful for her support.
