A heavy track after Thursday’s rain could not hold back a rampant (in a good way) Mick Coyne who posted one of the best medal rounds for a couple of years to claim his first medal since June 2013.

Mick shot an unbelievable round in the conditions of 80-13-67 leaving the field in his wake with his nearest challengers some five shots back.

He set up his win with an excellent back nine of 38 which included pars on 10, 11, 12, 14 and 18 along with a birdie three on the 13th. though he did bemoan his missed birdie putt on 18 that would have enabled him to break 80 off the stick.

The closest challengers were A grade runner up Bud Thorsen with 90-18-72, B grade winner Alan Curnow (96-24-72) and B grade runner up Des Partington (106-34-72).

As Mick did, Alan also set up his win on the back nine with 46 off the stick.

The ladies however, really found the going tough with Jenni Bauerle the winner with 100 -16-84 in a count back from Tracey Wade with 103-19-84.

Ball comp winners were Ed McQuienn with Nett 73, Craig Larcombe (73), Kevin Bauerle (74), Geoff Squires (75) and Peter Blackmore (75).

Blackers had a really good day as he also won the meat tray raffle.

Mick McAuliffe and Alan Curnow won nearest the pin trophies on the 12th with Alan converting his to a par however Mick could only manage a bogey four and then repeated the trick on the 15th where he won the voucher.

Best gross scores went to Mick Coyne for his round of 80, Craig Larcombe in B grade with a round of 95 and Jenni Bauerle.

On Tuesday the ubiquitous Pooch McHale posted an excellent round of 40 points for a two-shot win from Kelly Cheong with 38 points.

Kerry Kreeck (36), Ed McQuienn (35) and Kevin Bauerle (35) were ball comp winners. Ed also won the nearest the pin ball on the third while Daryl Harrison won the voucher on the 15th.

Finally, just a reminder for the AGM which is scheduled for 730pm on Tuesday 20 September at the clubhouse. All members are asked to attend.
