Weekly Roundup - Mens & Ladies results - 5/2/2023

Our February Monthly Medalist is a familiar name to Free Press readers but not necessarily through this column with Brad Edwards picking up his first Monthly Medal shirt.

The former Kyabram football club coach put together a very good round of 84-15-69 in tricky conditions to take out the Medal and A grade winner’s trophy by one shot from the very consistent Kelly Cheong who had a round of 80-10-70.

Another excellent round of 79 from Ash Kuiper won him the best gross score ball.

In B grade a count back was required to separate Gavon Armstrong and Craig Larcombe who both had rounds of 94-22-72 with Gavon getting the better of the countback thanks to a back nine of 45 off the stick.  Gavon also added the B grade best gross score ball to his winner’s trophy.

Wanda Hacon was the ladies’ winner with 98-24-74 while Judy Greer picked up the runner’s up trophy with a score of 100-23-77 in a count back from Bev Lyon with 101-24-77.

Wanda also picked up the best gross score ball.

Ball comp winners were Peter Blackmore with nett 71, Dylan Gallivan (72), Michael Gallivan (72), John McHale (73), John Heywood (73), Kevin Humbert (74) and Ash Kuiper (75).

Nearest the Pin trophies went to Brad Edwards (A grade 3rd), Rod Breen (A grade 12th), Ron Dixon (B grade 3rd), Ray Brereton (B grade 12th) and Pooch McHale (voucher 15th).

On Tuesday David Collins won A grade with the day’s best score of 39 points from Mick McAuliffe and Gordon Mackay with 36 points with Mick winning the countback for runner up.

Gary Jurey picked up another B grade winner’s trophy with 36 points by one shot from John Burrows with 35 points.

Balls went to Gordon Mackay, Graeme Harrison (34), Pooch McHale (33), Les Hall (33), Daryl Harrison (33), Jason McKenzie (33) and Steve Walsh (33).

David Collins (A grade 3rd) and Steve Walsh (voucher on 15th) were Nearest the Pin trophy winners.

Finally, just a correction to last week’s Summer Cup totals with one of our better educated members pointing out to me that Mick McAuliffe’s three reported rounds of 39-36-39 do not add up to 104. In fact, Mick has had rounds of 29-36-39 which do equate to a total of 104.

While my maths is okay, my typing is a different matter!

SCOOP 605
