Weekly Roundup 9/7/23
SATURDAY: With more inclement weather forecast for Saturday our Captain and Match Committee took the reluctant but sensible decision on Friday to postpone the Isaac Ball event for the second time in three weeks. (If only the captain and team management at Headingly had been thinking that clearly on day two of the 3rd Test).
The event will now to be deferred until a date to be advised, most likely in September or October when the weather is more favourable.
For those hardy (foolhardy) souls till looking to chance the accuracy of the BOM forecast a Stableford event was scheduled with the scoring matching the weather.
Surprisingly, there were sufficient numbers for two grades with Mick McAuliffe taking out A Grade with 34 points in a count back from Kevin Bauerle.
In B grade the scoring was decidedly cool with Gavon Armstrong backing up last week’s medal win with 29 points to secure a four-shot win from Michael Sheehan with 25 points.
None of our ladies were foolish enough to venture out.
Balls in the ball comp went to Nigel Dow (33 points), Paul Kuiper (30) and Paul Dickens (30).
Mick McAuliffe and Stephen Brown picked up nearest the pin balls on the 3rd.
Tuesday’s round was dominated by the Harrison family with young Wil notching up another win with 39 points and claiming the bragging rights from Dad Daryl who was the runner up with 37 points.
Pooch McHale (34 points) and John Burrows (33) picked up balls in the ball comp while Peter Mangan (3rd) and Daryl Harrison (15th) won the nearest the pin trophies.
