Weekly Roundup 25 December 2022
As forecast last week the unrest within the Match & Handicap (M&H) ranks has not abated with another scheduled round of Par switched to Stableford on Saturday.
Once again, the official line from M&H is once again of a united front, but I’m not buying the line that the captain was fully consulted on this week’s change; he might strut around like he’s five foot two our skipper, but Volodymyr Zelensky he’s not. I’m tipping he folded like a well drilled laundromat.
Not that our A grade winner, Kevin Humbert, was complaining as he put together an excellent Stableford round of 40 points while (according to his playing partners) deftly managing the damage to his 14 handicap.
Another 14 handicapper in Kevin Bauerle took out the runner’s up trophy with 36 points.
Jeff Carnie was the B grade winner with 34 points from Peter Wanless with 33 points and he took out the runner’s up trophy in a countback from Ian “Tommy” Scurrah.
Balls went to Shane Bourke (35 points), Robin Quinn (35), Peter Mangan (35) and David Collins (34).
The Nearest the Pin trophies were won by Kelly Cheong (A grade 3rd), Brad Edwards (A grade 12th), John Burrows (B grade 3rd) and Peter Noble (15th).
A very good field turned out on Tuesday with Peter Mangan the dominant force taking out A grade with 38 points. Kelly Cheong’s 35 points got him the runner’s up trophy in a countback from Bud Thorsen.
Ball comp winners were Bud along with Ian Scurrah (35), Wil Harrison (34), Archer Blackway (34), Graeme Harrison (34) and Kevin Humbert (34).
Kevin Humbert won the A grade nearest the pin ball and Jeff Carnie the voucher on the 15th.
