Weekly Round Up 1 January 2023

Rushworth’s Ian “Bomber” Rathjen farewelled 2022 with the a round of 41 points in Saturday’s New Year’s Eve Stableford round.

Bomber’s round could have been even better if not for a double bogey seven on the 18th after reaching the green in three.

Never the less he blew away the rest of the B grade field with Ray Brereton claiming the runner’s up trophy with 36 points.

An excellent back nine of 22 points and 38 points overall got Kevin Bauerle across the line in A grade in a count back from Paul Kuiper.

Marlene Topp took out the last ladies’ comp of the year with 38 points from Helen Emery with 37 points.

Robin Quinn and Ed McQuienn won balls in the ball comp with 36 points as did Ron Dixon, Geoff Strachan and Wil Harrison all with 35 points.

Kevin Bauerle and Alan Curnow picked up the Nearest the Pin trophies on the 3rd, Marlene Topp took home the ladies NTP ball on the 12th while the voucher on the 15th was won by Mick Coyne.

On the final Tuesday of 2022, Kevin Humbert took out A grade with 36 points in a count back from Parkland’s Andrew Cleary.

The B grade contingent struggled though, with Jeff Carnie the winner with 31 points from Geoff Squires who won the countback for runner up with 35 points from Peter Wanless.

Balls went to Daryl Harrison (35 points), Peter Mangan (34), and Graeme Harrison (34).

Jeff Carnie won the B grade NTP ball on the 3rd and Daryl Harrison won the voucher on the 15th.

It was a sad end to 2022 with the club losing two long time past members in Doris Vick and Shirley Casey and the club extends its sincerest condolences to the Vick and Casey families.
