Weekly Roundup 18/6/2023
SATURDAY: After last week’s course closure our golfers were welcomed back with a Par event at the weekend.
Although the course had dried exceptionally well scoring was less than exceptional with only Bev Lyon managing a positive score taking out the women’s event with +2.
Bev had a lazy six shots to spare from runner up Von Morris and Sharon Harrison who both finished with scores of -4.
Meanwhile four of our men managed even par scores leading to countbacks in both grades.
In A grade Graeme Harrison and Mick Coyne, who both played in the same group, went head-to-head with Harro taking out the count back.
It was the same story in B grade with Paul Dickens taking out the countback from John Burrow.
Scores of -2 won balls in the ball comp for Les Hall, Craig Larcombe, Geoff Squires and Kevin Bauerle.
Gordon Mackay (A grade) and Alan Curnow (B) picked up nearest the pin balls on the 3rd, as did John Neal (B grade) and Jan McHale on the 12th while the voucher on the 15th went to Von Morris with a very good tee shot which she comfortably two putted for par.
TUESDAY : Another smallish field on Tuesday with Pooch McHale shaking off his chronic arthritis to pick up a win with 33 points from runner up Paul Kuiper (30) and Gavon Armstrong who won a ball with 29 points.
Nearest the pin trophies wen to Peter Sherman (3rd) and Graeme Harrison (15th).
This week’s event is the Albion Motors Isaac Memorial 4Ball Qualifier which is one of our honour board events so be sure to find yourself a good partner for the day.

WEDNESDAY LADIES:
Cold weather and trying course conditions resulted in competition being reduced to one grade last Wednesday. The Medal Round which was to be played will now be played next week. Instead, a Stableford round was played. Vonnie Morris finished with 32 points to take the win from her playing partner Jenni Bauerle, who finished with 31 points. Well done to both players on a day when others were pleased to return a score in the twenties.
