Weekly Roundup 11/6/23

An abbreviated report this week with the 60mm plus of rain recorded late in the week forcing the course to be closed and Saturday’s event cancelled.

No such problems for Tuesday’s event although the imminent rain kept the field to numbers sufficient for only one grade for the second week running.

Scoring was on the wintry side too with Noel Vicary the winner with 30 points from Kevin Bauerle with 29 points in a count back from Pete Sherman.

While Peter had to settle for a ball in the ball comp’ he did provide the highlight of the day with a tee shot to within a metre of the pin on the 3rd to claim the Nearest the Pin trophy and a dozen jackpot balls.

Gavon Armstrong won the last ball with 28 and Graeme Pawley picked up the voucher on the 15th.

My comments last week regarding President Mick McAuliffe remaining at the helm past the age of 76 raised some eyebrow.

For the confused I can confirm that Mick is still well short of challenging Joe Biden on that count.

LADIES GOLF REPORT

The story of Valley View Women's golf this week is rain.
Our Division Two Pennant team played the final in wet and windy conditions at Tocumwal and just went down to Cobram/Barooga  in a closely contested match. Playing handicap golf the team had to give multiple shots to their opponents finishing three and a half to one and a half down with three players battling to the 18th hole.
Wednesday golf was cancelled due to the rain and The Lally Gold Watch Day which was to be played on Friday was postponed to a date to be decided due to wet conditions.
