Weekly Roundup 16/4/2023

SATURDAY: The rain forecast for early Saturday afternoon stayed away as did a large number of our members who heeded the forecast only to be left wondering how the experts can bombard us with forecasts for 2050 but can’t get a weekend forecast right one day out!

Those that did turn up for the Par event were greeted with a near perfect day for golf.

One man who did turn up was birthday boy Rory Kerr who celebrated in style with a round of 5 up and claimed a five-shot win (only one grade this week) from son Tom who posted a par score of even with the card and finished as runner up.

It was a closer contest in the ladies with Helen Armstrong the winner with 1 up from Judy Greer and Clare Kerr (both with scores of even) with Judy taking out the count back for runner up.

Ball comp winners were Clare Kerr, Gavon Armstrong (-1) and Ash Kuiper with -2.

Another Birthday Boy (on the Friday) David Collins picked up the Nearest the Pin trophies on both the 3rd and the 12th, Von Morris won the ladies NTP on the 3rd and Tom Kerr won the voucher on the 15th making it a rather profitable day for the Kerr family.

TUESDAY MENS: Scoring on Tuesday was a touch on the low side with Kerry Cheong the A grade winner with 33 points (albeit off a handicap of 8) in a countback from Paul Kuiper.

A countback was also required to find the B grade winner with Kerry Kreeck taking the honours from Neville Vicary after both had rounds of 34 points.

Ian Morrow and Steve March both picked up balls with 33 points as did Jim Hind and Pooch McHale with scores of 32 points.

Kevin Humbert (A grade) and Neville Vicary (B) won the NTP trophies on the 3rd while the voucher on the 15th went home with Steve March.

Just an update from Match & Handicap on the tee time for Saturdays which will now be assembly at 1130am (unchanged) for tee off at 12pm.

Please phone the Duty Team on 5852 1490 or Captain Alan Hausler on 0437 617 077 if you can’t register by 1130am or if you need to tee off after midday.

In need the Duty Team will hold back a group to around 1215pm if you can let them know you are on your way.
