Weekly Roundup 23/4/2023

Well, what a week makes both weatherwise and for the scores of some of our members.

Saturday’s Stableford event was played in perfect autumn conditions with a number of our players cashing in on the serene conditions however, the form of last week’s winner and birthday boy suggests that he may have over celebrated on both counts!

The A grade leader board was dominated by the name Gallivan with Dylan posting the day’s best round of 39 points (off a handicap of 7) to post a one-shot win from dad Mick who took out the runners-up trophy in a countback from Mick Coyne with 38 points.

One of the many highlights of Dylan’s round was his birdie two on the Par 3 15th after he had claimed the Nearest the Pin voucher on that hole with his tee shot.

It was a one-shot margin in B grade also with Alan Hausler (recently demoted from A grade) picking up a win with 37 points from Geoff Squires with 36 points.

A much more decisive result in the ladies’ event with Julie Neale’s score of 38 points giving her a five-shot buffer from Marie Watt and Leanne Busch who fought out a count back for runner-up with 33 points with Marie getting the trophy.

Ball winners were Mick Coyne (38 points), Gordon Mackay (37), Rod Breen (34), Peter Mangan (34),  Leanne Busch (33) and Gavon Armstrong (32).

Mick Coyne (3rd) and Mark Mullins (12th) picked up the A grade nearest the pin trophies however the B graders and ladies were completely off target with none able to hit either green.

Tuesday’s best round came from the multi-talented young gun Will Harrison who won B grade with 40 points from Gavon Armstrong with 35 points.

In A grade Pooch McHale won with 37 points in a count back from Kevin Bauerle and I will resist the temptation to use the “F” word (rhymes with fends) that got me into trouble with both of them a couple of weeks back.

Balls went to Gordon Mackay with 34 points, Kevin Humbert (34), Alan Hausler (32), John Neale (32) and Michael Sheehan (32).

Kevin Bauerle added the A grade NTP ball on the 3rd to his runner-s up trophy while Mike Sheehan won the B grade NTP ball and the voucher on the 15th went to Steve March.
