Weekly Golf report - 24.12.23
SATURDAY: Parkland members Alex and Kyle Kydd made the most of their short sleigh ride out to Valley View on Saturday with each taking home a little something to put under their Christmas tree.
Both had 40 Stableford points which was enough for Alex to win A grade by two shots from Debonair Davide Collins with 38 points.
For Kyle he finished as the B grade runner up just behind Peter Sherman who shot the lights out with the day’s best score of 41 points.
Alex claimed the runner’s up trophy in a countback from a very unlucky Alan Curnow who also had 40 points but had to settle for a ball in the ball comp.
It was a day of big scores with Wanda Hacon also taking out the ladies’ event with 40 points from Helen Armstong with 36 points.
Ball comp winners were the aforementioned Alan Curnow, Ron Dixon (39 points), Geoff Squires (38), Gavon Armstrong (37), Daryl Harrison (37), Craig Larcombe (36) and John Heywood (36).
To the Par three holes where Gordon Mackay won the A grade nearest the pin ball on the 12th and Lindsay Tatterson the B grade nearest the pin on the third.
Jeff “Cobba” Carnie won the voucher on the 15th on his way to a par.
A good field turned out for Tuesday’s comp and Steve March set the tone for what was to follow later in the week taking out B grade with 41 points.
Steve had a lazy nine shot buffer with Gary Jurey taking out the runner’s up trophy with 32 points in a countback from Neville Vicary.
Peter “back in Blackers” Blackmore was the A grade winner with 37 points getting home by two shots from Kevin Humbert with 35 points.
