Weekly Golf Report 22/9/24

Saturday’s event –Whilst most of us are still struggling with the weather conditions it was not enough to hinder the golfing prowess of Stephen Browne who shot a brilliant 39 points to win B Grade and has finally brought him into A Grade.  Geoffrey Strachan was runner up with 38 points and could have had anything but for a wayward final three holes.

A Grade scores matched the weather conditions and the young gun Wil Harrison took home the winner’s prize with 33 points on a count back from Kelly Cheong.

The ladies event was won by Von Morris with a very good score of 35 points from Marie Watt with 34 points.

Nearest the pin results – 3rd A Grade – Nobby with a majestic shot. B Grade – Bud Thorsen. The 12th went begging for the men but Nat McAuliffe was the only player to hit the green for the day and win the ladies.

The voucher stayed with the club on the 15th proving the difficult conditions.

Ball comp winners were John Burrows 37, Laurie Radley 36 and Lindsay Tatterson, Alan Curnow, Nigel Dow and Les Hall all with 35 points.

We would like to thank Ky Hire & Batteries for their generous sponsorship on the day.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF REPORT

After two weeks, having not played golf at Valley View due to the coring of the greens and an enjoyable trip away to play at Barham, we returned for a Stableford round on Wednesday.

The day was generously sponsored by members, Shirley Soares and Von Morris.

A count back was required to decide the A Grade winner. Jenni Bauerle was declared the winner from Jan McHale when both finished with 37 points. Helen Emery was nearest the pin.

In B Grade, Gill Thorsen was welcomed back to golf after a long injury break and her 37 points gave her the win from Wendy Cox on 34 points. Thorsen completed her successful return by also claiming the nearest the pin.
