Weekly Golf Report 21/1/23
SATURDAY: Solid rather than spectacular scoring was the order of the day in Saturday’s Par event.
In A grade Rod Breen and Daryl Harrison both put together rounds of 2 up with Rod getting across the line in the count back.
Two up was also the mark in B grade with Kyle Kydd marking his first round as a Valley View member with a one-shot win over Rory Kerr who finished with +1.
The ladies couldn’t quite match those scores with Von Morris the winner with a respectable score of -2 from Tracey Wade with -4.
Ball winners were Alex Kydd, Mick Gallivan and Kelly Cheong (all +1) along with John Burrows, Gordon Mackay, Paul Dickens and Mick Coyne who all finished square.
Nearest the Pin trophies went to Kelly Cheong (A grade 3rd), Graeme “Techie” Harrison (A grade 12th), Kyle Kydd (B grade 12th) and Rory Kerr who took home the voucher on the 15th for the second week running but settled for a par on that hole this week after tapping in for birdie last Saturday.
TUESDAY: There were a couple of good scores in Tuesday’s event as well with Alan Hausler the A grade winner with 39 points from Peter Noble with 38.
Tuesday specialist Gary Jurey was the B grade winner with 36 points in a countback from Alan Curnow.
Bud Thorsen (36 points), Pooch McHale (34) and Les Hall (34) picked up balls in the ball comp.
Pooch McHale and Ian Scurrah won the Nearest the Pin balls on the 3rd and the voucher on the 15th went to Graeme Harrison.
Our Pennant team scored a 3-2 win over Nagambie @ Numurkah on Sunday with the winners as follows:
David Collins & Gordon Mackay won 4&2
Paul Dickens & Daryl Harrison won 5&4
Lawrie Casey & Peter Blackmore won 3&2
It could easily have been a clean sweep for the team as the combinations of Ash and Paul Kuiper and Mick and Dylan Gallivan lost their tightly contested matches 1 down.
