Weekly Golf Report 19/5/2024

I suspect our golfers might be all Stableford’ out with the second round of the format in a row failing to provide any spark as far as scoring was concerned.

Only Jonty Sefton got the better of the handicapper taking out B Grade with 37 points from his handicap of 17.

That gave him a three-shot win from Laurie Radley who took out the count back for runner up with 34 points from Stephen Browne.

The best the A grade field could offer up was a pair of 35-point cards with Gordon Mackay the winner in a countback from The Pres, Mick McAuliffe.

Judy Greer won the ladies’ event with 34 points and was another three-shot winner from Nat McAuliffe who got the better of Bev Lyon in another countback for runner up with 31 points.

Balls went to David Collins and Stephen Browne (34 points) along with Pooch McHale (33), Daryl Harrison (32), Graeme Harrison (32), Lindsay Tatterson (31) and the aforementioned Bev Lyon.

Axedale’s Glen Laity (A grade 12th), Alan Hausler (B grade 3rd) and Jonty Sefton (15th) were the only success stories on the par three holes.

It was a similar tale on Tuesday with Lindsay Tatterson the B Grade winner with the day’s best score of 37 points from Geoff Strachan with 36.

Mick McAuliffe was on the right side of the countback outpointing Peter “Nobby” Noble with 34 points in the countback to take out A grade.

Balls went to Daryl Harrison, Bill Fry, Jeff Carnie and Kevin Bauerle, all with 33 points while Peter Mangan (A grade 3rd) and Nobby (15th) had Nearest the Pin wins.

This week’s event is the Isaac Memorial 4 Ball Par qualifier which is an honor board event.

Assembly is at 1130am.
