Weekly Golf Report 14/7/24

The deeper we go into winter that more our golfers seem to struggle to fire up and so it was in Saturday’s Stableford event generously sponsored by Ky Tyre Service.

Only Peter Blackmore managed to play to his handicap (15) taking out A grade with 36 points from Peter Mangan with 34 points.

Meanwhile in B grade a countback was required to split Alan Curnow, Craig Larcombe & Stephen Browne after they each finished on 34 points.

Ultimately, the countback went Alan Curnow’s way with a back nine of 17 points despite a shaky scoreless three-hole stretch.

Larco finished as the runner up but had to birdie the last to get into the count back and his 15 point back nine got him the runner’s up trophy by one shot from Browny.

Sharon Harrison was the ladies’ winner from Helen Armstrong however the results sheet does not contain their scores. Surely, they weren’t that bad!

Only two nearest the pin trophies were claimed on the day; Peter Noble (A grade 12th) and Daryl Harrison (voucher 15th).

Balls in the ball comp went to Stephen Browne (34 points), Kerry Kreeck (33), Graeme Harrison (32), John Heywood (30) and Peter Noble (30).

A big thanks to Ky Tyre Service for this week’s generous sponsorship.

Scoring was a shade better on Tuesday, despite the smaller field, and Daryl Harrison and Peter Noble fought it out for the winner’s trophy with 36 points apiece. Harro got the nod in the countback and also won the Nearest the Pin ball on the 3rd.

Graeme Harrison (35 points), Pooch McHale (34), Kayne Crompton (32) and Kelly Cheong (32) picked up balls in the ball comp.
