Weekly Bowls Report 20/10/24

MIDWEEK PENNANT

Our team travelled to Moama where two of our rinks found the day very

frustrating, but the one led by Skip Leanne Busch and her team of Jenni Bauerle, Nance Saunders and Anne Churches were in with a big chance after scores were level at 10 a piece after 14 ends, they then added 3 shots in the next 3 ends to be up on the 17th end. But the Moama team led by P McCloy picked up 7 shots over the remaining 4 ends to hold on to the win by 4 shots 17/13.

Helen Emery’s team playing with a sub from Rich River in Moira Thomas, Marlene Topp and Rae Hann had a hard match against M Young’s rink. With the scores at 21 to 10 after 14 ends, the Valley View girls couldn’t catch a break with the Moama team winning 16 shots to nothing over the next 7 ends.

Moama went on to win 37/10.

Bev Lyon’s rink of Peter Lyon, Kerri Savva and Julie Neale were also outplayed by the rink of B Curnow. Holding shots on many occasions, but the Moama team bowled beautifully to dash the teams hope of picking up shots. They were far too good taking the win 42/3. The overall winning score to  Moama 96/26.

Our next match is at Deniliquin RSL.

 WEEKEND PENNANT

Our men’s team travelled to Echuca where they found the Echuca team in red hot form.

Ken Black’s team consisting of Kevin Broadhurst, Tim Robertson-Kevington and Lenny Wiseman played T Richards rink where they were out played by 31 shots going down 40/9.

Graeme Topp skipped for Dave Clavell, Frank Findlay and Rob Varcoe against J Moss’s team. They also had a tough day holding shots. Going down 35/8.

The closest match of the day was skipped by Rod Donohue, with his team of Bob Greenaway, Peter Lyon and Alf Soden they didn’t let P Leach’s team get away with too much, only going down by 3 shots. 20/17. It just goes to show that a team that comprises of its four players and a total age of over 350 years can still put it to these youngsters. Well done.

The end result was a win to Echuca 95/34. Next week is at home against Tongala.

 Good bowling and good luck.
