Weekly Bowls Report - 12.10.24

Midweek Bowls

> Our season started on the 8th October with a match against Echuca at home.

> Bev Lyon’s team of Marilyn West, Kerri Savva and Julie Neale had a close match with J Clifford’s rink. With one down after 11 ends and Echuca leading  9 to 8 the Echuca team picked up consecutive threes and a further 6 shots over the remaining 10 ends to Bev’s teams 5 shots. Echuca  running out winners 21 to 14.

> Helen Emery’s team of Marlene Topp, Peter Lyon and Rae Hann were totally outplayed by J Clegg’s rink, with the Valley View team taking 6 shots to 22 after 13 ends. The Echuca team added 13 more shots to 3 for a  win of 35 to 9.

> Leanne Busch’s rink with Jenni Bauerle, Nance Saunders and Ken Hastie started very slowly with  T Nogorka’s rink jumping away to a big lead of 20 to 6 after 13 ends. The Valley View team hit back hard with 11 shots to 3 over the remaining 8 ends and just coming up short by 6 shots. Going down 17 to 23.

> The overall result was in Echuca's favour was 79 to 40.

> Our next match is at Moama, good luck and good bowling.

> Saturday Pennant

> Our weekend pennant started off with a great win over Mathoura at home with

> 82 shots to 36.

> G Topp’s rink of D Cavell, F Findlay and R Varcoe  opening up with a great start against C Ockwell’s team holding two 5 shot wins in the first 4 ends, and opening up a great lead of 22 to 9 after the 14 ends. Just to show they could, another 5 shots on the fifteenth end then finishing off with 8 shots to no score over the last 6 ends. Picking up the win 33 shots to 10.

> R Donohue’s team of K Hastie, B Greenaway and A Soden were up by 3 shots on thirteenth end against R Hading’s team 14 to 11  and scoring a great 5 shot win on the fourteenth end and 4 shots on the 16th. Continuing to bowl well the team held 14 shots to 4 over the next 8 ends to claim the win 28 to 15.

> K Black’s rink of K Broadhurst, T Roberts and L Wisman held a comfortable lead of 13 shots to 7 after thirteen ends and picking up a further 8 shots to 4 over the next eight ends to pick up the win by 10 shots 21 to 11.

> Great bowling.
