Ladies Golf - Presentation Day - 18/10/23

Last Wednesday was Presentation Day for the women golfers at Valley View. The day's event was a Stroke and putting round with many additional competitions.
Scratch winners were Leanne Busch with 94 in A Grade and Vonnie Morris in B Grade with an excellent 99 of the stick.
Handicap winners on the day in A Grade were Julie Neale, 98/23/75 and runner up Sharon Harrison, 101/24/77. Marg Smerdon took handicap honours in B Grade with, 103/28/75 on a count back from runner up Clare Kerr, 102/27/75. Marg Smerdon had the least putts with 24.
In A Grade nearest the pin was Tracey Wade, Helen Emery had the longest drive and Julie Neale's second shot on the sixth hole was closest to the pin.
B Grade saw Vonnie Morris claim nearest the pin, Marlene Topp had the longest drive and Gill Thorsen had the best second shot on the 13th. Liz Haw took the prize for the straightest drive.
Thank you to our members who provided prizes for the day.
Presentations for best performances over the year were a highlight of the afternoon.
The eclectic Is the sum of each individual players best score on each hole through the season minus half their handicap on the last day of the season. Leanne Busch took the A Grade trophy with 64.5 and there was a tie between Helen Armstrong and Vonnie Morris, when both finished with 71.5. There was another tie in the Captain's Olympic Trophy which is a combination of scores on one Stroke, one Stableford and one Par round. Jenni Bauerle and Marie Watt shared the honour. Helen Emery won the putting competition, Helen Armstrong had the most gobblers, Von Morris had the most pars for players with a handicap over 30 and Leanne Busch won the Birdies trophy donated by Bev Lyon.
Jenni Bauerle was named Saturday Medalist of the year which is sponsored by Helen Emery.
Congratulations to Leanne Busch who is our Golfer of the year taking home the Yearly Medal.
Finally, our thanks to Helen Armstrong for her dedicated work as Captain for the last two years as we welcome Helen Emery as our new Captain.
