LADIES GOLF REPORT - 16/11/24
It was Presentation Day for Valley View women last Wednesday.
In A Grade, Tracey Wade was the Scratch winner with 95. Wanda Hacon was the winner of the handicap event with 75 Nett three shots clear of runner up Marilyn West with 78 Nett. Nearest the pin went to Deb Chambers, who also had the longest drive on the 11th. Marilyn West had the best second shot on the 6th.
In B Grade, Bev Lyon won the scratch with 102. Although Julie Neale lost the count back in the scratch event, she enjoyed a very a very successful day picking up the handicap event with 78 Nett, nearest the pin and the longest drive on the 11th. Then having declared on the 2nd Tee that she would never win the straightest drive, she promptly put the ball within a handspan of the string to take the prize. Marlene Topp was runner up in the B Grade Nett with 81, Sharon Harrison won the closest second shot on the 13th and Marie Watt had the least putts with 28. Robyn Curnow won the draw for the Mystery Prize.
Following the presentations for the day’s play, Major event winners for the year received their trophies.
Eclectic winners were Jenni Bauerle in A Grade with 63.5 and Helen Armstrong in B Grade with 70.5.
Club Champion, Tracey Wade won the best average puts over 6 rounds with 29 and the most Gobblers. Runner up Club Champion, Leanne Busch won the Bev Lyon sponsored most Birdies and teamed with sister, Jenni Bauerle to win the 18 Holes Foursomes sponsored by ACM. Foursomes runners up were Von Morris and Wendy Cox.
Our other Club Champions also received trophies from sponsors M&S Accounting Group. They were B Grade: Helen Armstrong and runner up Wanda Hacon and C Grade: Marie watt and runner up Wendy Cox. Bev Lyon won the Best Nett over the three rounds of the Championships sponsored by Gill Thorsen.
Judy Greer was the winner of the Captain’s Trophy: The Olympic.
Club winners in Golf Victoria events were Helen Emery in the Silver Spoon and Helen Emery and Tracey Wade in the Doris Chambers Foursomes.
There were two final highlights of the day’s presentations.
Firstly, congratulations to Bev Lyon who was the proud winner of the Kyabram’s Jewellers sponsored, Yearly Medal.
Finally, congratulations to Julie Neale and Robyn Curnow who have been declared the winners of the state wide Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB competition for 2024. Their 44 points they recorded on our fundraising day for the Royal Women’s Hospital was the best recorded at clubs across the state. Our thanks to Open House who have been long time sponsors of this event at Valley View.
