BOWLS Weekly report 16/11/24
MIDWEEK BOWLS
Bev Lyon’s rink of Marilyn West, Kerri Savva and Julie Neale were up against the rink of A Gusak. The Rochester team started strongly leading 12 shots to no score after five ends and a lead of 23 to 5 on the thirteenth. Although the Valley View team were holding shots on lots of ends the Rochy Skip removed them with great skill. On the fourteenth and the remaining 7 ends the Valley View team bowled well to get themselves back in the game picking up 15 shots to nothing and only going down by 3. 23 to 20 in a great fight back.
Graeme Topp skipped for Helen Armstrong, Marlene Topp and Alf Soden against E Halls rink and bowling well to open with 9 shots to no score after 4 ends and going on to hold a handy lead after 13 ends by 5 shots 13 to 7. With some excellent bowling the Valley View team picked up shots on 6 of the remaining 8 ends to go on and claim the win by 12 shots. 24 to 12.
A well deserved win.
Peter Lyon led for Kevin Broadhurst, Nance Saunders and Anne Churches against L Moons rink. The Valley View team had a very hard day trying to hold shots while Rochester were bowling very consistently, and picking up valuable shots. The Rochester team picked up the win by 28 shots. 40 to 12 and the overall team win of
75 to 56.

SATURDAY PENNANT
This weeks match was at Lockington.
With the rink led by Rod Donohue with Ken Hastie, Bob Greenaway and Alf Soden they picked up a good win by 4 shots 20 to 16 over C Felminghams rink.
Ken Blacks rink of Kevin Broadhurst, Tim Robertson-Skevington and Rob Varcoe were in another close match claiming the win by 3 shots, 21 to 18 over K Stout and his team.
Graeme Topp, Dave Clavell, Frank Findlay and Lenny Wiseman were struggling to pick up shots against S Felminghams rink. Going down 31 shots to 8.
The overall win was to Lockington by 16 shots 65 to 49.
Next weeks match is at home against Rich River
