GOLF Weekly Report 8/12/24

Saturday's event -With the course looking in pristine condition after the recent rains, El Presidente Mick McAuliffe shot an outstanding 78 off the stick net 70 to win by one shot from the one armed bandit in Daryl Harrison with net 71. Daryl suffered a shoulder injury in Stanhope reserves grand final approx. 12 weeks ago and has been playing one handed in that time although rumour  has it he tried out with both hands this week.

B Grade scores could not quite match the big guns but Ian "Bomber" Rathjen scored a very good 95 net 73 to win from Elmore visitor Paul Pappin with net 75 on a countback from Jeff Carnie also 75.

The ladies event was won by Helen Armstrong with another very good score of 97 net 73 to win comfortably from Wendy Cox with net 77.

Nearest the pin results-3rd A Grade-Kelly Cheong. Ladies-Wendy Cox. 12th A Grade Anthony Topp. Unfortunately B Grade went missing on both holes and no lady made the 12th

The voucher on the 15th went to Wendy Cox.

Ball comp winners were Kevin Humbert 74, Kevin Bauerle 74, Michael Gallivan 75, Jeff Carnie 75, Gordon Mackay 76, Glen Laity 76 & Les Hall 76.

Best Gross scores for the day were A Grade - Mick McAuliffe, B Grade - Ian Rathjen & Ladies - Helen Armstrong.

We also had count your putts with Helen Armstrong winning the ladies with 23 and Michael Gallivan winning the mens with 26 putts.

Tuesday's golf saw a smaller than usual field with man of the moment Mick McAuliffe posting another very good score of 36 points to win from John "Pooch" McHale with 35 points on a countback from Kevin Humbert.

Nearest the pin results - 3rd - Jeff Carnie Nearest the pin on 15th was Pooch McHale

Ball comp winners were Kevin Humbert 35, Mick Gallivan 32, Daryl Harrison 31 & Alan Hausler 31.

This Weeks event - Individual stableford sponsored by Kyabram Veterinary Clinic "Black Sock Day" being a two hit off time event however, weather permitting afternoon time would be preferred for play.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF: There was just one grade for Valley View women in last Wednesday’s Stableford round. Leanne Busch was the winner with 32 points closely followed by Judy Greer with 31 points. The rapid growth on both the fairways and greens and the rain which delayed mowing probably explains the low scores.
