MIDWEEK PENNANT
After two weeks of washouts we finally travelled to Rich River for our match last Tuesday.
Helen Emery’s rink had a slow start against A Linquists team with many good shots played but not being able to hold them, going down by 13 shots.
Leanne Busch’s team came home with the chocolates against L Sharps rink with a close match all day, they picked up a great 4 on the 20th end to open the lead to 6 shots. Rich River collected a 3 on the last but it wasn’t enough for the win.
Valley View winning by 3 shots. Well done.
Bev Lyon had a real tussle with R Thomas’s rink. Not having an ideal start and being well down after 13 ends, the team fought back well only going down by 8 shots.
The overall result was 67 to 49 going down by 18 shots but improving on our first encounter by 15 shots. Well done ladies, Ken and Chalky.
Next weeks match is our last for the year at home against Rochester.
The first back in the new year is at home against Echuca. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
SATURDAY PENNANT
Pete Lyon’s rink of Ken Hastie, Bob Greenaway and Alf Soden had a close tussle with R Hosking’s rink, managing a close victory by 3 shots 16 to 13.
Graeme Topp skipped for Dave Clavell, Frank Findlay and Lenny Wiseman against B Vistarini. Coming away with another close win by 2 shots 21 to 19.
Ken Black’s rink of Kevin Broadhurst, a sub and Rob Varcoe had the biggest win of the day over F Walsh’s rink by 17 shots 27 to 10.
Coming away with a good win by 22 shots 64 to 42.
Well done. The next match back is on the 18th January is at Stanhope.
