Bowls Report - 5/11/23
MIDWEEK BOWLS
Our Tuesday match was against Echuca at home.
Leanne Busch’s team of Graeme Topp, Anne Churches and Helen Ward again played against a very strong and consistent combination led by W Curnow.
The Echuca team opened strongly taking the lead of 15 to 8 after 13 ends and continued to effectively remove good bowls that the Valley View team had in place. Echuca picked them off scoring on 6 of the remaining 8 ends and notching up the win 27 to 10.
The team skipped by Bev Lyon with Pete Lyon, Marilyn West and Julie Neale opened their account against B John’s team well, leading 5 to 2 after the first 4 ends, but then lost focus losing 11 shots to none over the next 3 ends. But with a little encouragement and motivation from the team they picked up 16 shots to 1 over the next 8 ends including a handy 5 shots on the 11th end, to swing the balance in Valley Views favour 21 to 14 after 15 ends. Continuing on for the win 25 to 20.
Helen Emery and her team of Marlene Topp, Rod Donohue and Kevin Broadhurst had their chance. Staying close to the J Moss led team and only 2 behind after the 10th end. Echuca picked up a 6 on the 11th which opened up a good lead and by the 16th end led 20 to 8. Helen’s team played some great shots to pick up a 4 and 3 on the 17th and 18th but Echuca continued on their way to record the win 24 to 15.
The overall result was Echuca 71 to Valley View 50.
There is no bowls next week due Melbourne Cup. Our next match is the 14th November at Rich River. Good bowling.
