Weekly Bowls Report - 19.11.23
MIDWEEK BOWLS
Tuesdays bowls match at Rich River was played through extreme cold rain and sleet for three quarters of the match. With the majority hoping an agreement would be made for the match to be called off, but unfortunately this didn’t happen so we struggled on even hard to hold the bowl at times let alone direct it towards the kitty. Anyway our results are as follows.
Leanne Busch and her team of Jenny Bauerle, Anne Churches and Helen Ward were up against J James’s rink, which obviously didn’t let the conditions worry their bowling. Opening up with a lead of 14 to 8 after 12 ends and then closing out the match 35 to 10.
Helen Emery’s team of Marlene Topp, Helen Armstrong and Rae Hann couldn’t match the opening 13 ends of the team led by H Freeman opening up with a lead of 23 to 5, but to Valley Views credit they fought back with 9 shots to 4 over the remaining 8 ends.
The end result was in Rich Rivers favour 27 to 14.
Bev Lyon and her team of Marilyn West, Nance Saunders and Julie Neale were picking up ends but only by one or two shots early on against A. Linquists team opening up a very handy lead of 14 to 4 after 10 ends. Then Rich River picked up two 5 shot and a 4 shot win over the next 4 ends to gain the lead of 19 to 14. The remaining 7 ends were roughly even, but the Valley View girls were unable to bridge the gap going down 23 to 17.
Overall result to Rich River 85 to 41.
Next match is against Stanhope at home followed by the bye.
Good luck and good bowling.
SATURDAY PENNANT
This match was to be played at Valley View against Moama Steamers but unfortunately due to a few players away and some being unwell we didn’t have the numbers for a team, so sadly VV had to forfeit.
Next weeks match is again at Valley View against Deniliquin RSL.
Good bowling.
