Weekly roundup 8th October 22
After 20mm of rain on Wednesday found the track surprisingly dry for Saturday’s Stableford event.
After a handful of visits newly signed member in Brad Murray, playing off 14, notched up his first Valley View win taking out A grade with 36 points.
Brad finished one shot clear of Rushworth’s Kelly Cheong (though we claim him as one of our own now) who finished with 35 points off a 12 handicap.
Another recently signed member in Peter Sherman won B grade with the day’s best score of 39 points, five shots clear of runner up Alan Curnow who put together a score 34 points.
There was also a five-shot margin in the ladies’ event with Julie Neale’s 36 points getting her across the line from Clare Kerr with 31 points.
Balls in the ball comp went to Peter Noble with 34 points, Peter Mangan and Lawrey Case with 33 points, Robin Quinn and Graeme Harrison with 32 points and Pooch McHale with 31 points.
It was a mixed bag on the par 3 holes. Brad Murray picked up the A grade nearest the pin on the 12th, Marilyn West and Julie Neale won the ladies’ NTP balls on the 3rd and 12th respectively, and Jan McHale picked up the voucher on the 15th. However, the A grade NTP on the 3rd and both B grade NTP balls remained with the club.
Tuesday Men’s Results
There were some good scores from the excellent field on Tuesday with Daryl Harrison taking out a grade with 39 points (handicap 10) from the Pres Mick McAuliffe with 38 points (handicap 9).
Peter Sherman had a good week putting together the first of two 39-point rounds for the week (playing off 39 Tuesday and 38 on Saturday he will be off a few less next week) and finished eight shots clear in B grade from runner up Les Hall with 31 points. Hally taking out John Neale, John Burrows and Brendan Cornwall in a count back for the runner’s up trophy.
Gordon Mackay (36 points), David Collins (35), Robin Quinn (35) and Kelly Cheong (35) all picked up balls while Nearest the Pin balls went to Robin Quinn in A grade and Brendon Cornwall in B grade.
