Weekly roundup 24th Sept 22

An early week call from AFL CEP Gill McLachlan to Valley View supremo Mick McAuliffe saw the club graciously agree to bring forward its weekly event to the public holiday Friday thus avoiding an embarrassing clash and enabling the AFL to register its best Grand final crowd since 1986.

One man more than pleased with the call was Rod Breen who put together an excellent round of 40 Stableford points which saw him record a two-shot win in A grade from Kevin Bauerle with 38 points.

The scoring went down a notch in B grade with Rory Kerr the best with 35 points and Geoff Squires the runner up with 32 points.

The scoring went down another notch (or two) in the ladies’ comp with Sharon Harrison surprised to find herself collecting the winner’s trophy with 28 points in a count back from Julie Neale.

Ball comp winners were Peter Blackmore (37 points), Daryl Harrison (36), Mick Coyne (36), Lawrie Casey (35) and Tom McConachie with 34 points.

Nearest the pin winners were:
Paul Kuiper (A grade – 3rd)
Craig Larcombe (B grade – 3rd)
Rod Breen (A grade – 12th)
Gavon Armstrong (B grade – 12th)
Barry Williams (voucher on 15th)

Another good field on Tuesday with Pooch McHale the A grade winner with 36 points from Peter Blackmore with 34.
John Burrows (JB) was the B grade winner with 32 points from John Neale with 28 while balls went to Daryl Harro with 33, Mick McAuliffe (32), Nobby (30) and Kevin Bauerle (30).
JB also picked up the B grade nearest the pin ball.

A book event was on offer on Saturday with a number of members taking the opportunity to tune up for the grand final on the course.

Our reigning Monthly Medalist Mick Coyne was the winner with 33 points in a count back from Peter Blackmore while Daryl Harro picked up another ball with 31 points.

Wanda Hacon was the ladies’ winner with 30 points from Gill Thorsen with 27 points.
