Weekly Golf Report - 18.8.24
SATURDAY: The threat of rain kept our golfers at home on Saturday with just a small field braving the conditions and this was reflected in the scoring.
Graeme Harrison put together the day’s best score of 33 points and was a two-shot winner from David Collins and Brendan Cornwall who both managed scores of 31 points and David got the better of the count back for runner up.
Brendan picked up the only ball on offer in the ball comp while Harro and David picked up the Nearest the Pin trophies on the 3rd and 12th respectively.
Harro also picked up a round of drinks after chipping in for birdie on the ninth.
TUESDAY: The real action for the week was in Tuesday’s comp where Gary Jurey posted a massive score of 44 points and was a five-shot winner in B Grade from a very unlucky John Neale who would win most weeks with a score of 39 points.
Kelly Cheong was the A grade winner with 37 points from Gordon “The Golfer” Mackay with 34 points.
Balls went to John Burrows (36 points), Kerry Kreeck (35), Kayne Crompton (33) and Kevin Bauerle with 32 points.
Geoff Squire (3rd) and Daryl Harrison 15th) were Nearest the Pin trophy winners.
Don’t forget this week is the annual Cooper-Buckell day with a generous array of trophies up for grabs.
The event is a 4BBB Stableford and all players are asked to register by no later than 1130am to give the duty team a fighting chance of getting the field away on time.
The day will kick off with a BBQ lunch at 11am.

LADIES WEDNESDAY REPORT
The Fringe Factory kindly sponsored the Foursomes Stableford event held on Wednesday August 14 in surprisingly foggy conditions.
There were some strong combinations on the day with Bev Lyon and Janice Johnstone managing to win on a count back from Tracey Wade and Helen Emery, both pairs scoring 37 points.
Nearest the Pin on the 12th was Leanne Busch, with her partner Jenni Bauerle also taking out the nearest the pin on the 15th.
Tracey and Helen have qualified to represent our Club at the State Final of the Doris Chambers Foursomes Stableford event to be held at Yering Meadows Golf Club on Thursday October 24, and we wish them well.
