Weekly Golf Report - 12/5/2024
SATURDAY: The weather gods smiled upon us on Saturday with the overnight rain clearing and leaving us with an almost perfect day for golf albeit on a slightly heavier track than in recent weeks which dulled scoring just a touch.
In A grade Pooch McHale posted the day’s equal best score of 37 points and in doing so secured a one-point win from Michael Gallivan and Colin Johnson both of whom handed in cards with 36 points. The count back for runner up went Mick’s way.
The scenario was almost identical in B grade with Peter Sherman the winner by one shot with 36 points from Paul Dickens with 35 points and he won the countback for runner up from Alan Curnow.
The other round of 37 points came from Helen Emery who was a comfortable five shot winner from Judy Greer with 32 points.
The unsuccessful countback participants in Colin Johnson (36 points) and Alan Curnow (35) won balls in the ball comp as did my new neighbor Paul Kuiper, Peter Noble and Lawrie Casey all with 35 points.
Nearest the Pin balls were won by Lawrie Casey (3rd) and Peter Mangan (12th) in A grade, Steve Browne on both the 3rd and 12th in B grade and Helen Emery who won the ladies NTP ball on the 3rd.
Mango’s tee shot on the 12th was a pearler resting six feet off the pin before he successfully dropped his birdie putt.
The voucher on the 15th was won by Paul Dickens on his way to a Par.
On Tuesday Graeme Harrison continued on with his Monthly Medal winning form with 37 points and went home as the A grade winner in a countback from Peter Blackmore.
I can’t believe this but Kevin Bauerle picked up his first win in B grade with 36 points, also in a countback with John Burrows the unlucky runner up.
Balls went to David Collins (35 points), Kevin Humbert (34) and Richard Caioffa (34).
Peter Blackmore and Linsday Tatterson won the Nearest the Pin balls on the 3rd and the voucher on the 15th was won by Richard Caioffa.
For something different next week’s round will be a Stableford event with Assembly at 1130am.
The following week (Saturday 25th) is the Isaac Family 4 Ball Best Ball honour board event.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF REPORT:
Wednesday's Stroke event was the second round of the Championships for Valley View women. Thank you to our sponsors for the day Intersport Bennett's.
The winner in A Grade with the outstanding score of 91-24-67 was Wanda Hacon. Runner up was Leanne Busch,87-15-72, who on any other day would most likely have taken the win. Tracey Wade was nearest the pin.
In B Grade, Marie Watt 102-29-73 won from Robyn Curnow, 112-37-75. Judy Greer was nearest the pin.
As we head into the final round of the M&S Group Accounting sponsored Championships, the tussle for the Open Championship is tight with Tracey Wade just one shot clear of Leanne Busch. Courtesy of her excellent round last Wednesday, Wanda Hacon has a six shot lead over her nearest rival, Helen Armstrong with Bev Lyon one shot further back. In C Grade, also courtesy of a good second round, Marie Watt takes a clear lead into the final round from Wendy Cox.
Our Pennant teams recorded one win and one loss last week. Division One last to Shepparton 2/3 and Division Three defeated Numurkah, 3 1/2 to 1 1/2.
