Weekly Roundup 8/10/23

It’s been a big, big, week for one of our youngest members in Wil Harrison and his name will dominate this report.
On Thursday Wil and his dad, Daryl, won the Vic Pairs Matchplay title at Mandalay golf course coming from three holes down after the 11th to snatch an amazing 2&1 win.
That win now qualifies Daryl and Wil for the National Pairs Matchplay finals at Cape Shank in December for which we wish them well.
Making the most of his good form Wil then backed up on Saturday with a round of 92-25-67 which netted him a win in B Grade, the October Monthly Medal AND the Medalist of Medalists title defeating five of the other 2022-2023 Medalists in the field.
What is more it was a decisive win with the next best score coming from A grade winner David Collins who had a round of 88-16-72.
David was three shots clear of Dylan Gallivan (82-6-76) who was the runner up in a count back from Kevin Bauerle and Mick Coyne who also had rounds of Nett 76.
Les Hall was the B grade runner up with 102-28-74 in what was a very noticeable generational gap during the B grade presentations. Fair to say to that Wil is a much more succinct speaker than Hally too!
Wanda Hacon was the ladies’ winner with 107-26-81 from Jenni Bauerle with 97-15-82.
Best Gross score balls were won by Dylan Gallivan (82), Wil Harrison (72) and Jenni Bauerle (97).
Mick Coyne (A grade – 3rd) and Paul Kuiper (voucher on 15th) were the only Nearest the Pin winners on the day
On a perfect day for golf scoring was among the rest of the field was below par with balls the ball comp going to Daryl Harrison (Nett 74), Craig Larcombe (75), Alan Hausler (76), Mick Coyne (76), Kevin Bauerle (76), Paul Dickens (77), Peter Nelson (77), Bud Thorsen (78) and Rod Breen (78).
On Tuesday a handful of hardy souls battled the rain with Peter Sherman the winner with 39 points from Mick McAuliffe with 36 points.
Daryl Harrison won the nearest the pin ball on the 3rd.
