GOLF Weekly Report 26.1.25
SATURDAY: A superb round of 40 Stableford points from Kevin Humbert was the headline act from Saturday’s Stableford round.
So often an unlucky runner up Kevin plays off a handicap of 12 so his round equates to 80 off the stick which is a pretty decent round and the score saw him finish as the A grade winner by two points from Mick Gallivan who had 38 points playing off a handicap of fifteen.
For good measure Kevin also picked up the A grade Nearest the Pin ball on the 3rd while other Nearest the Pin balls went the way of Ron Dixon (B grade 12th), Jan McHale (3rd), Von Morris (12th) and David Collins picked up the voucher on the 15th.
In B Grade Kerry Kreeck and Kevin Wooten both posted scores of 37 points with Kerry getting the better of the count back.
It was a similar story in the ladies’ comp with Jenni Bauerle getting the better of Judy Greer in a countback after they both scored 36 points.
The ball comp saw balls go home with Grame Harrison and Peter Noble each with 36 points, along with Peter Blackmore, Helen Emery, Lindsay Tatterson and Paul Pappin all with 35 points.
Tuesday’s results sheet has disappeared into cyber space but from slick investigation I was able to ascertain that Jeff Carnie was the winner with 37 points from Mick Gallivan with 35 points.
There was a general bye for Australia Day in the Pennant season which will resume next week.
Next Saturday at Valley View will be the February Monthly Medal round and the following week will be the final round of the Summer Cup with the leaderboard for that event after the first three rounds looking as follows:
Nigel Dow 102 points
Mick Gallivan 102 points
Kelly Cheong 100 points
Paul Kuiper 98 points
Gordon Mackay 96 points
A reminder to our golfers that even if you are not listed among that elite group a really decent round on Saturday week could put you back in contention with the winner determined by the player with the best three round total from the four rounds.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF REPORT - It wasn’t too hot and it certainly wasn’t raining, but the weather gods threw up very strong winds to deter some members from taking to the course last Wednesday. A small field of wind resistant players enjoyed their Stableford round. Janice Johnstone admitted some wind assistance may have helped her to reach the excellent total of 37 points as she was declared the winner from the very consistent, Helen Armstrong, with 36 points.
