Men’s Report - Saturday 3 December 2022

A white-hot run of form has delivered Ed McQuienn a second monthly medal in three months after a brilliant round of 77-8-69 on Saturday.

After a front nine of 40 off the stick Ed set up his medal win with a brilliant back nine of one over 37 which featured birdies on the 11th and 13th holes. Only a bogey six on the last prevented him from an even par nine.

With form like that it is a shame that he only contested one round of the club championships.

Graeme Harrison finished two shots behind Ed with a round of 87-16-71 leaving him as the runner up in both the medal and A grade.

It was a big day for the A grade contingent which dominated the ball comp with balls going to Kevin Humbert, Peter Blackmore, Kevin Bauerle, Robin Quinn (all Nett 72) and Lawrie Casey with Nett 74.

The B graders were a bit off the pace with John Neale the winner with 100-26-74 by one shot from Craig Larcombe with 87-22-75. Larco took the runner’s up trophy in a count back from Johnny Heywood who had 99-24-75.

It was similar story in the ladies’ comp with Sharon Harrison the winner with 98-24-74 from Clare Kerr with 105-29-76.

Nearest the Pin trophies went to Daryl Harrison (A grade 12th), Ray Brereton (B grade 3rd), Craig Larcombe (B grade 12th), Helen Emery (12th) and Mick Gallivan who played an excellent tee shot to within a metre of the cup on the 15th to claim the voucher.

Best Gross score balls went to Ed McQuienn, Ray Brereton (B grade) and Tracey Wade (96) in a count back from Helen Emery.

Tuesday’s winner was Graeme Harrison with 36 points in a count back from his regular playing partner in Peter Noble which added icing AND sprinkles to his win.

Ball comp winners were John (that’s his real name) McHale with 35 points, Gary Jurey (34) and Ed McQuienn (34).

Harro won the nearest the pin ball on the 3rd while the voucher on the 15th went to the player of the week in Ed McQuienn.

Just a reminder to our members and Free Press readers that with summer upon us we now have a morning tee off (assembly 8am) as well as the usual lunch time tee time (assembly at 1130am for tee off at 1215pm).
