Weekly roundup 30 October 22
With their course closed following more heavy rain, Valley View welcomed a decent contingent of Parkland golfers for Saturday’s Stableford event.
Actually, I use the word “welcomed” advisedly and at this point I should stress that you ARE reading the VALLEY VIEW golf report because by the end of the day our Parkland neighbours had taken home a decent share of the day’s trophies, apparently handling the heavy conditions in much better fashion than our own members.
In A grade Andrew Cleary got the ball rolling for the visitors posting the day’s equal best score of 33 points to take the winner’s trophy in a countback from Kevin Bauerle – surprisingly popular win inside the clubhouse!
Andrew made the most of his day out as he also picked up the voucher for nearest the pin on the 15th.
It was a similar story in B grade with Parkland’s Russell McLay claiming victory with 31 points from Des Partington (VV) with 30 points.
Veronica Ryan made it a Parkland clean sweep winning the ladies’ comp with 25 points while our own Wanda Hacon finished as the runner up with 22 points in a countback from Parklands’ Kathy Bell.
Valley View was better represented in the ball comp with Miles Gould, John McHale, Brad Murray, Brad Edwards and Lawrie Casey all taking home balls with 32 points,
Kevin Humbert (A grade 3rd) and Des Partington (B grade 12th) picked up the only other nearest the pin balls won on the day.
The results sheet doesn’t auger well for next Sunday’s Valley View – Parkland challenge which Valley View will host, weather permitting, with assembly 1030am for 11am tee off.
Valley View members interested in playing are asked to contact Peter Noble on 0438 521 775.
Tuesday and Thursday’s events both fell victim to the weather gods.
