Weekly Round Up - 30/4/23

ANZAC DAY: To begin this week’s report, we venture back to Anzac Day and the Girgarre RSL day with a good field teeing off just after midday following the fitting tributes to our servicemen earlier in the morning.

There was some good scoring in the 4 Ball Best Ball event too, with Kevin Bauerle and Gordon Mackay teaming particularly well to win the men’s event with 44 points.

Peter Noble and Graham Harrison finished two shots behind with 42 points to claim the runner’s up trophy.

Helen Emery and Marlene Topp combined exceptionally well to score 47 and points and they only had a two-point buffer from Wendy Cox and Anne Hawking who combined for 45 points.

Mick McAuliffe, Wil Harrison and Jan McHale picked up Nearest the Pin balls on the 3rd, Leanne Busch was the only player on target on the 12th and the voucher on the 15th went to Mick Coyne.

Saturday’s Stableford event was a low scoring affair with Pooch McHale the A grade winner with 33 points from Graeme Harrison with 32.

John Neale was the B Grade winner with 35 points from Les Hall with 33 while there was a three-way countback in the ladies between Marlene Topp, Helen Armstrong and Julie Neale (with 34 points each) which was resolved in that order.

Ball comp winners were Julie Neale, Clare Kerr (32), Gavon Armstrong (32), Jan McHale (31) and Geoff Squires (31).

Nearest the Pin trophies went to Pooch McHale (A grade – 3rd), Alan Curnow (B grade 3rd and voucher on 15) and Sharon Harrison on the 12th.

A final reminded for this week’s tournament which kicks off on Friday with 4BBB Stableford events for Men and Ladies with assembly at 930am.

Saturday is a stroke event (Mens and Ladies) with assembly at 1130am.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF RESULTS: Australian Consolidated Milk were the sponsors for our 18 holes Foursomes at Valley View last Wednesday. Leanne Busch and Jenni Bauerle recorded the best gross score of 94. The Nett competition required a count back to decide the winner. Janice Johnstone and Marlene Topp, 102-27-75, were declared the winners from Helen Armstrong and Judy Greer, 98-23-75. Nearest the pins went to Julie Neale on the 12th and Marilyn West on the 15th.

This will be a busy Week for Valley View golfers with Pennant played at Shepparton on Monday, Championships beginning Wednesday and the Valley View Tournament being held on Friday and Saturday.
