Weekly Golf Report 23.6.24

My lack of enthusiasm for last week’s results struck a nerve with some readers so thank goodness for Geoffrey Strachan who gave me something to write about this week with a brilliant round of 41 points as he secured a comfortable win in B Grade on Saturday.

An excellent 19-point front nine from Strachannie was easily surpassed by an even better back nine of 22 points as he secured a four shot in from an in-form Stephen Browne who picked up the runner’s up trophy with 37 points.

It was a family affair in A grade with Mick Gallivan taking the honors with 36 points in a count back from son, Dylan.

To the ladies and Marlene Topp made a return to the winner’s list with 34 points while Julie Neale took out the runner’s up trophy with 30 points in a countback from Helen Emery.

Last week’s A grade winner in Peter Blackmore lead the ball comp winners with 35 points (the same score he won with last week) while other balls went to Pooch McHale with 34 points, Peter Mangan (33), Ash Kuiper (33), Steve March (33), Laurie Radley (32) and Gordon “The Golfer” Mackay (32).

Nearest the Pin trophy winners were Ash Kuiper (A grade on 12th) and Will Harrison (voucher on 15th).

Congratulations to Peter Mangan and Kevin Bauerle who took out the final of the Isaac Family 4 Ball event, defeating Peter Noble and Craig Larcombe “narrowly” at the weekend.

A big thanks again to the Isaac Family and Albion Motors for their ongoing support of this honour board event.

On Tuesday Miles Gould made a rare mid-week appearance and duly won A grade with 35 points from Kevin Bauerle with 34 points.

John Burrows was the B grade winner with 35 points from Brenton Shepherd with34 points.

Daryl Harrison (32 points), Pooch McHale (32) and Kevin Humbert (31) won balls and Nearest the Pin trophies were won by Ron Dixon (B grade 3rd) and Peter Sherman (15th).

Our Pennant team started its winter campaign with a 3-2 loss to Shepparton at Cobram on Sunday.

The two winners were Ash Kuiper (6&5) and Laurie Radley (score not available), while Mick Gallivan (3&2), Paul Dickens (2&1) and Miles Gould (3&2) had narrow losses.

Miles is looking to shore up the numbers for the rest of the season so if anyone is interested in playing Pennant, please give him a call or drop in and see him at the shop.
