Ladies Golf Report - Opening Day 6/3/2024

Valley View women celebrated the opening of the 2024 Winter Season in warm conditions last Wednesday.

Presentations  began with our Rising Star award. This award has been sponsored by Anne Churches for many years and goes to the player who has reduced their handicap by the biggest margin in the previous calendar year. Congratulations to Wendy Cox who was declared the winner having reduced her handicap by more than 7 strokes.

Hurley's Bar and Bistro were our generous sponsors for our Stroke and Putting event, including our first monthly medal for the year.

Captain Helen Emery was the winner in A Grade. Helen's score of 91-19-72 was the best round of the day and earned her the Monthly Medal. A three way count back was required to decide the runner up. Janice Johnstone, 96-23-73, won the count back from  Leanne Busch, who recorded the best gross with 89, and Marilyn West. Jenni Bauerle was nearest the pin.

Clare Kerr continued her fine form and with 98-25-73, was the winner in B Grade and she was also nearest the pin. Clare's 98 off the stick also won her the best gross in B Grade.

Marie Watt was runner up with 106-30-76 and she also recorded the least putts with 28.
