Golf - Weekly Report 28/1/24
If you are buying a ticket in this week’s Super Power Ball draw, get on number 37 because that number was the only number that mattered in Saturday’s Stableford event with all our winners posting that score.
In A grade it was Gordon Mackay and last week’s winner Rod Breen fighting it out with 37 points before Gordon picked up the winner’s cheque in the countback.
In B grade Les Hall was the man with 37 points scoring a two-shot win from Peter Sherman who took out his second runner’s up trophy for the week with 35 points.
Meanwhile Veronica Morris completed the hattrick of 37’s winning the ladies’ event by three shots from Tracey Wade with 34 points.
Ball comp winners were Paul Kuiper and Bud Thorsen with 34 points, Kevin Humbert, Kelly Cheong, Peter Blackmore, Jan McHale and Trudy Denham all with 33 points.
Kevin Bauerle (A grade 12th), Gavon Armstrong (B grade 3rd), Tracey Wade (3rd), Trudy Denham (12th) and Stephen Browne (15th) took home the nearest the pin trophies.
It was a case of the usual suspects on Tuesday with Pooch McHale taking out A grade with 37 points from runner up (via a countback) Gordon Mackay and Mick McAuliffe who both had 36 points.
Gary Jurey scored yet another win in B grade with (that number again) 37 points from Peter Sherman with 35 points.
Balls went to Mick McAuliffe (36), Jonty Sefton (34), Kevin Humbert (34), Daryl Harrison (34) and David Collins with 34.
Geoff Strachan was the only winner on the par three holes taking home the voucher on the 15th.
Finally, Congratulations to Graeme Harrison who took out the 2023 A Grade Match Play title on Saturday with a hard-fought win defeating Mick Gallivan in the final on the first playoff hole.
Scoop
LADIES REPORT: Finally, after storms, a very wet course and days of very high humidity, Valley View women were able to enjoy a Stableford round in pleasant conditions last Wednesday.
Jan McHale definitely enjoyed the conditions finishing with 37 points to take the win from Clare Kerr with 36 points. Von Morris was nearest the pin. Here's hoping the weather is kind to us for the remainder of summer.
