GOLF - Weekly report 27/10/24

Saturday’s stable ford event was played in excellent golf conditions with some good scores resulting.

The ladies saw a runaway win to Natalie “Fair weather golfer now Fair weather bandit “ McAuliffe with a great score of 44 points from young Marie Watt on 38 points. The handicapper is hovering for Nat .

In the Men’s event in A grade saw youngster Will Harrison win with 36 points from Michael Gallivan on 35 points. The boys will be keen to see Will return to his cricket commitments.

Will even made the comment “the scores are fairly ordinary today “ so much for the great conditions.

B grade saw a win to Geoff Squires with 37 points from Paul Dickens on 36 points.

Nearest the pins went to John McHale ,Rod Breen and Nat McAuliffe on her way to a successful day.

Ball winners went to Alan Curnow 35, Kerry Kreek 35, Tracey Wade 35, Rod Breen 35, Lawrie Casy 34, Paul Kuiper 33 and Glen Laity 33.

Tuesday event results are a bit scratchy as we could not find the results sheet. In testing the fading memories of a couple of competitors it is thought John McHale won with 36 points in a countback from Kev Bauerle and Gordon “the golfer “Mackay. Nearest the pins were to John McHale and Kelly Cheong.

In the all-important chicken run saw the Heckle and Jeckle combination of John Burrows winning with David Collins as runner up.

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF: Valley View women’s golf enjoyed the best of Spring weather for their Stableford round last Wednesday. Sunshine, a light breeze and an abundance of bird life were the backdrop for a tight competition between playing partners Helen Armstrong and Judy Greer. After playing the front nine both players had accumulated 19 points and remarkably after the back nine each had scored a further 19 points for a total of 38 points. After the count back, Judy Greer was declared the winner.

Thursday, we will welcome district players to our annual Lally Gold Watch Day, which is generously sponsored by Ann and James Lally.
