Weekly Golf Report - 21/4/24
SATURDAY: As with the recent trend there was one stand out round in Saturday’s Stableford event with Rushworth’s Kelly Cheong posting a round of 41 points (77 off the stick) from a handicap of nine.
Kelly’s round featured nine pars and four birdies and he was never going to be headed if things got to a countback after posting 22 points on the back nine.
A countback was not required though with runner up Steve Hammond two shots further back with a round of 39 points.
Alan Hausler was a comfortable five shot winner in B grade with 37 points but that didn’t stop runner up Les Hall (32 points) referring to him as a “failed A grader”!
Jenny Bauerle won the ladies’ comp, also with 37 points and Nat McAuliffe finished as runner up with 35 points.
Ball winners were Mick Gallivan (37 points), Peter Blackmore (37), Graeme Harrison (37), Gordon Mackay (36), Lawrie Casey (35), Jonty Sefton (35) and Rod Breen (35).
Rod Breen (A grade 12th), Geoff Squires (B grade 3rd), Nat McAuliffe (3rd), Jenni Bauerle (12th) and Linsday Tatterson (15th) were the Nearest the Pin trophy winners.
Two very good scores of 41 points saw Gordon Mackay (A grade) and John Burrows (B) take home the winner’s trophies on Tuesday.
Mick Gallivan was the A grade runner up with 35 points while a very unlucky Ian Scurrah was the runner up in B Grade with 39 points.
Balls went to Les Hall (37 points), Geoff Strachan (36), and John Neale (34).
Kevin Humbert (A grade) and Tiger Livingston (B) were the ball winners for Nearest the Pin on the 3rd and the voucher on the 15th was won by Graeme Harrison who then managed to make four on that hole .

LADIES WEDNESDAY GOLF: Wednesday's Stableford event saw excellent scoring in both grades.
A Grade winner, Jenni Bauerle's score of 42 points was four points better than her sister Leanne Busch's runner up score of 38 points which would normally be enough to win. Jan McHale was nearest the pin.
In B Grade, Von Morris equalled her A Grade counterpart to win with 42 points as well as taking the nearest the pin. Wendy Cox also matched The A grade result with a score of 38 points to be runner up.
