Weekly Golf Report - 23/3/25
SATURDAY: A perfect autumn’s day set the scene for a successful Opening Day on Saturday.
After enjoying a delicious lunch carefully prepared by Alan “Ramsey” Curnow an excellent field made its way to the tees for the traditional Mixed Pinehurst Medley event generously sponsored by Kyabram and District Funeral Services.
Upon their return some four hours later the Jack Bond Build Pro scoreboard revealed a decisive win to Rod Breen and Tracey Wade who teamed brilliantly to post an excellent score of 81 Nett 69 ¾.
This gave Tracey and Rod an almost four shot buffer from the runners up in Gordon Mackay and Wendy Cox who had a round of 88 Nett 73 3/8.
Rod and Tracey will share possession of the newly struck perpetual trophy generously donated by our sponsors.
Further back, taking out balls in the ball comp were Graeme and Sharron Harrison with a Nett Score of 75 5/8, John and Lynn Canavan with the same score, Mick and Janine McAuliffe with 76 3/8 and Peter Noble and Wanda Hacon with 76 7/8.
There was also a good turnout of our bachelors that could not be matched with partners for the Pinehurst Medley (in some cases because of some particularly odd social habits) and they contested a Stableford event.
Young Wil Harrison led that field home with 37 points while a relatively new member in Tony Williams finished as runner up with 36 points.
Lawrie Casey (hope I’ve got it right this week Case) and Les Hall won balls in the bachelor’s ball comp with 35 and 33 points respectively.
Nearest the Pin trophies on the day went to Wil Harrison (A grade 3rd), Andrew McAuliffe (A grade 12th), Tony Williams (B grade 3rd) and Von Morris who won the voucher on the 15th.
A seriously big thank you to Col and Sue Moody at Kyabram District Funeral Services for their incredibly generous sponsorship on the day.
On Tuesday, Daryl Harrison was the A grade winner with 39 points while Miles Gould took the runner’s up trophy in four-way countback from Gordon Mackay, Glen Laity and David Collins all with 33 points.
Laurie Radley won B grade with 39 points from Kevin Wootten with 38 points.
Balls went to Gordon Mackay, Glen Laity and David Collins with their 33point scores along with Les Hall and Graeme Harrison with 32 points.
David Collins (A grade 3rd), Glen Laity (A grade 12th), Tony Williams (B grade 3rd) and Les Hall (15th) won the Nearest the Pin trophies.
Some late mail with Sunday’s Ern Healey Memorial Day again a great success with Mick Pell and Jason Sefton taking out the 4BBB Stableford event with 49 points enjoying a comfortable five shot victory from runner’s up in Kyle Kidd and Shaun Bassett with 44 points.
Nearest the Pin trophies went to Wil Harrison (3rd), Tony Williams (12th) and Peter Blackmore (15th).
A big thanks to Daryl Harrison for the work he has put into organising the event again this year.
